Asset: Zone
A Zone Asset is an 3D area in a game world that affects how audio is heard within and around it.
What is a Zone asset?
- A Zone Asset in this context defines an interactive 3D area in a game world that affects how audio is heard within and around it.
- For example we can apply reverb, filtering, or other spatial effects when a player is in or near a zone.
How to create and edit a Zone asset
- In Elias, a Zone Asset can be created in the standalone studio application…
- But must currently be edited using the Spatial Editor tool (found under the Tools menu).
The Spatial Editor allows you to:
- Select a Zone asset in the Asset field.
- Assign a Reverb IR Asset if convolution reverb should be used.
- Adjust the amount of reverb send.
- Choose and edit different curves that control how audio parameters change over distance or within the zone.
- Curve editing controls:
- Left-click on the curve to add a point.
- Left-click on an existing point to edit or remove it.
- Right-click and drag a point to move it.
- Expand the graph by adjusting the X Limit and Y Limit fields.
- While the Zone asset defines behavior inside Elias, its geometry and placement are added within the game engine plugins (Unity, Unreal, etc.), where additional zone settings can also be configured.
