Navigating the Studio

This section will go through basic views and navigation in Elias studio

Start Screen

The first view you see in Elias is the start screen. From here you can chose to:

  • Open locally stored Elias 4 project.
  • Create a new Elias 4 project. You will be prompted to pick a location and save your project.
  • Connect to a remote session. This enable live editing of a projected hosted by, for example, a game engine.



 

Elias studio overview

  • The is a basic schema of elias panels and content areas
  • On MacOS, Elias use the standard OS top navigation instead of the application menu 

 

Asset Browser

  • Elias asset browser is used to create and open assets. This is also where audio samples are imported.
  • You can import samples with Drag n Drop.
  • Elias asset browser also monitors your harddrive. So If you add a sound file to your Elias Project via Windows File Explorer or MacOS finder, this will automatically be ingested and shown in the asset browser as an asset.

 

Context menu

Right-click in the browser area to access the context menu with the option to:

  • Create a folder
  • Create assets
  • Cut, Copy, Paste, Rename or Delete assets or folders
  • Preview sound files
  • Create config files (after selecting a patch)

Footer has some additional buttons for:

  • Create assets
  • Refresh assets in asset browser (for example if you have added files outside Elias Studio)
  • Goto folder in OS
  • Open debug windows (feature will be implemented soon)

 

Editor windows

  • If you double click on an asset it will open up in Elias Studios editor.
  • The editor is used to add logic and content to an asset.
  • Some assets can also be “simulated”. With simulation you can test asset behaviour with out the need to connect Elias to a game engine,

Toolbar

  • All editors have a toolbar on top, with access to certain actions.

Inspector

  • Select certain elements in the editor to inspect them
  • The inspectior is located to the right om the main editor canvas.
  • This is where you can change most settings and properties for elemets with in your asset

 

  • Most elements in elias has a context menu, that is accessible with a right-button mouse click
  • There is also an application menu in the top left (Windows) or reachable via standard application menus (MacOS)
