Asset: Audio files
An audio asset is an audio file added to Elias. To be able to use a sound i elias, you must first add the audio file to Elias asset browser. An audio asset can be used in a sound player, a music arrangement, a stinger or as an impulse respons.
Adding an audio asset to Elias
- Add an audio asset to the studio by dragging a .wav file from the OS file browser to Elias asset browser.
- When the .wav file has been added to the Elias project it will be ingested and a compressed Ogg file is automatically created alongside it.
- A sound asset in the studio asset browser is not the actual sound file itself, but a reference to the ingested sound that contains the uncompressed WAV file, as well as the compressed OGG file.
PRO TIP!
- A common way to ingest files is to add the files directly to the project structure on disk.
- For example, if you are working in your DAW and want to do a batch export of several files… You can do this directly to the folder structure, as long as it's a sub folder to the Elias 4 project.
- The .wav files will be ingested as soon as they are saved and the studio is running. If the studio is not running, the files will be ingested the next time the project is loaded.
- NB! Some DAWs create files in different ways, so the experience could be different depending on what DAW is being used.
Multi-selecting audio assets
- The behavior of multi-selecting and adding more than one audio file is different depending on the asset:
- Multi-select sound assets to drag and drop them into a sound list on a SOUND PLAYER.
- Multi-select music assets and drag and drop them into an ARRANGEMENT slot to create multiple variations at once.
- Multi-select music assets and drag and drop them into a VARIATION (visible after selecting an arrangement slot) to create segments.
